Abstract

This journal reviews the general and specific characteristics of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject. The aim of this research is to explain the characteristics of the PAI subject to facilitate the implementation of teaching by teachers in the classroom. This research uses a qualitative method with literature studies, drawing on reliable sources from several books. The activities conducted in this research include collecting literature data, reading and noting, and processing research materials relevant to the existing issues. The general characteristics of PAI include aspects concerning both the worldly and the hereafter, biased non-neutral religious teachings, religious teachings aimed at forming good moral character (akhlaqul karimah), highly functional religious teachings used throughout life, and religious teachings that are instilled from home. The specific characteristics include education provided at educational levels with a curriculum that aligns with Islamic religious education, such as subjects in Al-Qur’an-Hadith, Aqidah Akhlak, Fiqh, and islamic history.
